Recreation of neo-classical interior door mouldings.Casting

Pre-19^th century, ornamentation on decorative arts was carved from wood. Then came a quicker, more cost-effective system of carving the negative form of the decor-
ation. This reverse mould was filled with compo (a thick, soft plasticized form of gesso) and left to harden into the shape
of the mold.
